Our first investment cycle focuses on five of these systems. Each marks a place where we intend to find and back a fund-defining company that solves a fundamental problem for humanity to explore, innovate, and advance at incredible speeds.
I. AI: Engineered for Aerospace, and Applied in Autonomous Robotics
Aerospace is gated by a shortage of qualified engineers and by tooling that has not advanced in a generation. It is slow, and held in hands which should be autonomous.
We want to fund the intelligence layer built for this field alone, an autonomous engineer who can operate in any setting, compounding the output of every team it touches, on the ground and in orbit.
II. Energy
Nothing operates without power, and power is the binding constraint in both locations. On Earth, intelligence and industry now compete for every available watt. In space, mass, distance, and the absence of a grid make conventional generation untenable. Fusion timelines are compressing, and a wave of novel approaches has become fundable for the first time.
We want to fund the companies that produce dense, portable, and durable power, the kind that runs a terrestrial datacenter today and a lunar base tomorrow.
III. Self-Sustaining Food and Water
A civilization that cannot feed and water itself indefinitely cannot leave home, and much of Earth already lives under that same pressure. Closed-loop sustenance remains unsolved over long durations. The biology, the chemistry, and the control systems required to close the loop are now possible.
We want to fund infinite food and water, systems that produce without resupply, because the loop that sustains a crew off Earth is the loop that sustains a community in a desert or a disaster zone.
IV. Propulsion
Moving mass off Earth, and moving it again once it is up there, remains the tax on every ambition above it. Reusability proved the cost floor can fall, yet chemical rockets sit near their physical ceiling and the cheapest kilogram is still chained to the rocket equation. Launch assist and non-chemical approaches change that equation rather than fight it.
We want to fund the systems that cut the cost and improve the cadence of reaching orbit and traveling through space.
V. Transmission of Information
Everything above the atmosphere is throttled by how fast and how far information can move, and the same limits now bind a data-saturated economy on the ground. Radio is congested and starved for bandwidth, and latency over interplanetary distances caps what any remote system can achieve. Beyond Internet, we now need “Outernet.”
We want to fund quantum, photonic, orbital, or any potential transmission layer to connect the universe.
VI. Human Health
Humanity cannot live beyond Earth without the means to heal, recover, and inhabit unique environments for long periods. Distance limits access to hospitals, resupply, and conventional infrastructure. The challenge is to bring more of what sustains a human life into straightforward spaces, with fewer resources and greater independence.
We want to fund the medicine, life sciences, and compact living systems that make this possible. The technology that brings a clinic into a spacecraft can bring care to a remote community. The design that fits the amenities of a home into a space capsule can improve how and where people live on Earth.
